Rosemary Gafner, Ed.D. is co-founder and president of MedRisk®, Medical Risk Management, Inc., a Houston-based provider of continuing education and risk management services for healthcare professionals. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston, where she earned her doctorate in 1976. Dr. Gafner previously was affiliated with St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Texas Children's Hospital and Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. She advises hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers on interpersonal relationships, medical liability risk reduction and defensible charting. An accomplished educator, author and public speaker, she has presented over 500 risk management workshops to physicians throughout the country. In addition, her books Risk Management Rounds: Radiology, Risk Management Essentials for Physicians, Streetwise!, Streetwise Plus!, RiskAware® for Pediatricians, RiskAware® for Managed Care, RiskAware® for Physicians, NetAware for Physicians, Risk Management Essentials for Dentists, RiskAware® for Medical Office Professionals, and RiskAware® for Dentists have been used by over 14,000 physicians as a source of information on risk management techniques and malpractice prevention.

Kathleen M. Roman, Assistant Vice President, Risk Management Education Services, The Medical Protective Company, authored Risk Assessment for Dentists: Case Studies. She brings nearly thirty years of experience to her role at Medical Protective, where she is responsible for identifying risk issues that challenge health care professionals and for developing educational services that will address these issues. She is editor of the nation's oldest risk management health care quarterly, The Protector. Ms. Roman earned a Bachelor's degree in journalism from Eastern Michigan University; she completed advanced studies in organizational growth and development at the University of North Texas and holds a Masters degree in health care risk management from the Chicago Medical School, Finch University of Health Sciences.
